Mathematics for Life
Amended Specification
Dear Colleague,
The draft specification for Mathematics for Life that has been available on the CCEA web site has now been fully accredited. It has been updated to clarify the assessment procedures for the Pupil’s Portfolio of work. Your attention is drawn to the following paragraphs:
3.1.2
3.3.1
3.3.2 (including the criteria for collect, process and present data)
3.4.1
3.5.2 (new)
6(iii).
Please also note the changes to the table in Section 8 giving details of the samples to be submitted for moderation.
Two extra appendices have been included; Appendix 2 is the Cover Sheet on which to record the pupil’s marks for the Investigative Tasks and Appendix 3 is the Witness Statement for use when it is not feasible to submit written evidence of a competence.
Up to now, centres have had hard copies of the Course File Work Sheets supplied to them. Work is currently under way to make this material available on the CCEA web site. The materials will be available as word documents so that centres can re-format them as required to suit the needs of their pupils. It is hoped that this will happen before the end of September 2006.
I would be grateful if you would make this information available to all teachers involved with the delivery of Mathematics for Life.
