SUBMISSION OF COURSEWORK MARKS BY EDI - SUMMER 2005

CCEA recently sent out a fax back questionnaire to centres regarding the submission of coursework marks by either EDI or TAC1’s. We received a significant level of response, thank you all for taking the time to reply.

The results of the survey show that approximately 50% of CCEA’s examination centres are not in a position to submit coursework marks by EDI in summer 2005. As advised in the fax back, in light of the increased risk in doing so, CCEA cannot sustain a dual system of receiving coursework marks based upon the experiences of summer 2004. Therefore the decision has been taken that all coursework marks will be processed in summer 2005 by TAC1’s only. The facility to submit coursework marks by EDI will no longer be available.

Please do not see this as a retrograde step for the use of technology. This is not the case. The Examinations Modernisation programme aims to develop the use of technology and it is anticipated that a web based portal will be available for centres to upload coursework marks by summer 2006 and at the latest summer 2007. All centres will have access to this portal and when fully developed CCEA will expect centres to submit coursework marks on-line. Eventually TAC1’s will be totally withdrawn from the process.

May I take this opportunity to thank you again for taking the time to return the fax back to CCEA.
