GCSE ADDITIONAL MATHEMATICS
Extension of Approval

Approval for the use in Northern Ireland of the revised GCSE Additional Mathematics specification, for first teaching from Autumn 2002, was initially given until 2006. I am pleased to be able to tell you that approval has now been extended until 2008.

As you are aware, there are impending changes to the 11 – 16 curriculum that are likely to affect mathematics courses; Professor Adrian Smith’s report also may have some influence. CCEA will wish to analyse these changes before making decisions on the future of GCSE Additional Mathematics beyond 2008.

I will, naturally, keep you informed of any developments as they occur.

GCE MATHEMATICS
November AS Papers

I would remind you that the provision of Papers M1, P1 and S1 in November finished in November 2004. No further GCE Mathematics Papers will be provided in the November examination session.
