Important Information: Introduction of CD format for Listening component

For first examination of the new GCSE Short Course in Summer 2006, the exercises for the Listening Component will be provided in CD format. However CCEA will still supply teachers with cassette tapes to record students’ responses to the Speaking component.

For summer 2007 there will be a move to CD format for the Listening tests for all Modern Language examinations. A circular giving more information on this will be sent to all centres soon.

This change to CD format is being made to improve the quality of the stimulus materials produced by CCEA. Recent technical advances using CD format can achieve a higher quality reproduction than that achievable using cassette tape format, consequently this change is being made to enhance the experience of the students taking CCEA examinations.
