GCSE Construction Unit 3 Software Provision

Dear Colleague,

CCEA is aware that a number of centres have been experiencing difficulty with the installation of AutoCAD software for Unit 3 of the GCSE Construction specification.

The major reason for this difficulty is the cost to C2k for developing a MSI to deliver the client license package for the 2007 release of the software. To avoid centres having to contribute to this cost, the CCEA Examinations Manager has arranged to meet it.

This will enable centres to have the software installed, through C2k, at a cost of £250 (in addition to the cost of the software).

It is hoped that this arrangement will support and encourage the uptake of what is proving to be a popular specification.

CCEA is working to develop a longer term solution that will enable centres wishing to offer the specification in the future to have the software installed more rapidly and without excessive cost.
