S/IF/103/06 November 2006

TO: The Principals of Post-primary Schools and Director of Institutes of Further and Higher Education

FOR CIRCULATION TO: The Head of the Technology Department and/or teachers of GCSE Double Award Engineering and Manufacturing.

GCSE Examinations from 2007 on
GCSE Double Award Engineering and
GCSE Double Award Manufacturing.

Dear Colleague(s),

Following feedback from teachers since November 2004 and consultation with teachers attending the agreement trial in October 2006 the following changes have been made to the assessment criteria for GCSE Engineering Double Award Unit 2 and GCSE Manufacturing Double Award Unit 2.

Teachers should use these criteria when assessing their pupils' work for the summer 2007 award. The moderators will be judging pupils' work, and the marks awarded by their teachers, against them.
