Controlled Assessment

Students must complete two different controlled assessment tasks from the three that we provide. We set the controlled assessment tasks and change the titles every two years.

The tasks (Unit 1 and Unit 2) are each worth 30 percent of the final award.

Each task must relate to one of the three compulsory areas of study:

  • Local and Global Citizenship;
  • Personal Development; and
  • Employability.

Candidates have the opportunity to submit Unit 1: Report 1 at the end of their first year of study, or they may submit both reports at the end of the course.

Watch this short clip, which gives a teachers perspective on LLW 'controlled assessment'. Michaella O'Boyle, from St Benedicts gives you an insight into how to manage your controlled assessment tasks. This includes some tips on managing your student's time and the key areas for you to focus on to achieve good results.
