Internal Assessment
Candidate Record Sheet - Sciences (except Double Award)
(PDF), Last Updated: 22 September 2009
Internal assessment accounts for 25 percent of the final award. Teachers assess students in the following three skills areas:
- planning experimental procedure;
- obtaining evidence; and
- interpreting and evaluating.
Teachers assess students’ performance in the skills through experimental and investigative work carried out during class time. Assessment may take place in a variety of experimental situations, but at least one of the marks contributing to the final assessment must come from a whole investigation, that is, an activity which covers all aspects of the three skill areas.
