This specification is for first teaching from September 2016.

Studying Physics deepens our understanding of the smallest detail in our world. Physicists are at the forefront of pursuing solutions to some of the biggest questions facing the science and technological sectors.

This qualification is for students with an interest in science and strengths in physics, mathematics, chemistry or computer science at GCSE. It is best suited to students who aspire to university level education in a broad range of science disciplines from astronomy to medicine. It promotes problem-solving skills that are required by a broad range of professions, in and beyond science.

Students develop competence in research, practical problem solving and mathematical skills, which are highly regarded in further and higher education, and the workplace.
