Coursework
Entry Level Art and Design coursework encourages students to explore, experiment and express themselves creatively through a range of art, craft and design activities.
This qualification consists of seven coursework units:
Imaginative Design |
Photography |
Drawing and Painting |
Ceramics |
Printmaking |
Textiles |
Three-Dimensional Studies |
|
Candidates must demonstrate what they have learned in three of these.
A new coursework theme is set every two years for this qualification. The theme for assessment/moderation in 2012 is ‘Disguise’. The theme for assessment/moderation in 2013 is ‘Time’.
There must be evidence of the theme in at least one of the units of coursework.
For each unit, students must produce:
- a range of creative works; and
- evidence of preliminary research.
Breadth of experience is most important in the qualification. Therefore, students are not required to produce a final work (outcome) for any of the coursework units. A body of work is sufficient.
Some students require a significant amount of teacher support during the production of the coursework. These students are not penalised for seeking help.
