Specification

In To fulfil the requirements of this qualification, students must produce three units of coursework and complete work on an externally-set Controlled Theme or Task.

Assessment in Entry Level Art and Design is based on three assessment objectives: Investigating, Understanding and Making. These objectives are summarised below.

Students should:

  • inform and develop their own work by comparing it to the work of others from different places and times;
  • recognise that different types of art and crafts are created for, and influenced by, different situations;
  • experiment with, and demonstrate practical skills using, a variety of materials, tools and techniques;
  • use the visual elements;
  • modify their work as it develops;
  • collect and organise reference materials to develop ideas;
  • investigate ways of exploring ideas and feelings through materials, techniques and processes; and
  • record from direct experience, observation and imagination both the natural and manmade environment.
