Entry Level Art and Design – Coursework Themes for 2012 and 2013

A new coursework theme is set every two years for this qualification. The theme for assessment/moderation in 2012 is ‘Disguise’. The theme for assessment/moderation in 2013 is ‘Time’. There must be evidence of the theme in at least one of the units of coursework.

Posting Coursework on Social Networking Sites and the Internet

You should not post coursework on the internet, or make it publicly available in any way, until the deadline for examinations queries has passed. The reason for this is that the regulations for the exam say that you must not:

  • lend work to other candidates or allow [your work] to be copied;
  • allow other candidates access to, or the use of, [your] own source material or assist others in the production of coursework;

These actions constitute malpractice, for which penalty (e.g. disqualification from the examination) will be applied.

If you have coursework already published on the internet and you intend to submit it for this summer's examination, you should remove it as soon as possible.

A Call for Moderators

We are currently hiring GCSE Art & Design Moderators – interested?

As a CCEA Moderator, you will review samples of marked examinations to verify that centres are accurately applying CCEA’s assessment criteria to students’ works.

Amongst the many benefits of this role, your attendance at training and standardisation events will help improve your subject and qualification knowledge from the outset. You will also have opportunities to build relationships and network when visiting centres and discussing assessment decisions with other education professionals. And your feedback and comments will help maintain and improve standards.

To apply you must be a fully qualified teacher of GCSE Art & Design, preferably currently teaching the CCEA specification. Your abilities to work well under pressure and to meet deadlines are integral to this role. It is also essential that you are a resident of Northern Ireland.

For further details, contact CCEA by email at appointments@ccea.org.uk, by telephone on (028) 9026 1243, by fax on (028) 9026 12090 or check out the examiner recruitment microsite.

Alternately, apply immediately using our online or downloadable forms.
