This new AS and A2 vocational specification has been specially designed to suit the modern Northern Ireland business Context.

The specification builds on the foundation laid by the GCSE Business Studies specification and the GCSE Applied Business Specification currently offered by CCEA.

However this course of study in AS and A2 Applied Business could be undertaken by candidates entering the vocational/business area for the first time, and may be delivered on either a full-time or part-time basis.

Structure

This specification replaces the former AVCE specification. Flexibility is catered for and several progression pathways are provided. Students may undertake the following pathways:

  • A 3 unit course leading to the Advanced Subsidiary General Certificate of Education
  • A 6 unit course leading to the Advanced Subsidiary General Certificate of Education (Double Award)
  • A 6 unit course leading to the Advanced General Certificate of Education
  • A 12 unit course leading to the Advanced General Certificate of Education (Double Award)
