In GCSE Business and Communication Systems, 25 percent of the marks are awarded for controlled assessment. The controlled assessment tests students on their knowledge and understanding of Unit 3: E-Commerce. The teacher marks the students’ work and we moderate it.

Students have an overall limit of 30 hours in which to design a website and explain its business rationale through a PowerPoint presentation. This involves the following six tasks:

Task 1: Project Planning   (2 hours)
Task 2: Research of E-Business and E-Commerce (4 hours)
Task 3: PowerPoint Presentation  (4 hours)
Task 4: Evaluation of Existing E-Commerce Sites (4 hours)
Task 5: Development of Website (8 hours)
Task 6: Evaluation (8 hours)

We review our controlled assessment tasks every year.
