GCE in Economics
Our GCE Economics is a relevant and stimulating subject that allows students to explore economic issues of local, national and international significance.
Through studying GCE Economics, students are able to:
- recognise the main economic issues that society faces and be able to comment on these in a thoughtful and informed manner;
- analyse, explain and evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the market economy and the role of government within it;
- understand the complexity of economic behaviour and appreciate how economic decision-making and the activities of individuals, businesses, institutions, communities and governments are inter-related;
- apply economic concepts and theories in a range of contexts and to appreciate their value and limitations in explaining real-world phenomena; and
- develop skills, qualities, and attitudes which will equip them for the challenges, opportunities and responsibilities of adult and working life.
Economics opens up a wide range of opportunities for further and higher education and interesting and rewarding careers. Many students with economics qualifications go on to have successful careers in business, finance, banking, government services, teaching and/or law.
