Coursework
Tips for Coursework
- Know the Assignment Objectives.
- Work to the criteria – both general and specific.
- Choose a task that you are comfortable with and be realistic about your potential.
- Ask your teacher for advice.
- Integrate knowledge about linguistic devices into your answer. There is no point in simply naming the device used; you must show the effect it has.
- Do not write too much; practise editing your work.
- Remember - a creative task is not an easy option and generally is only completed by very competent candidates. It must meet the criteria on Language for the relevant band. This also applies to a media task on Shakespeare.
- Do not write a biographical paragraph on any of the writers you are using. Integrate the information into the body of your answer and use it to show your understanding of the characters, the plot, the setting, or of the language. This will effectively fulfil AO4.
- Respond personally to the work you study; do not depend on your teacher’s points completely. Your interpretation or understanding could be equally valid and refreshing.
- Try to stay within the recommended word limit.
