In GCSE Applied Science (Double Award), students must sit one examination for Unit 2: Science for the Needs of Society. The examination lasts 1½ hours, accounts for 33.3 percent of the final award, and is set and marked by us. Students must answer short questions that test their knowledge and understanding of the unit’s following topics:
- living organisms;
- obtaining useful chemicals;
- materials for making things; and
- the importance of energy
