GCE in Government & Politics

Our GCE in Government and Politics develops students’ knowledge and understanding of political ideas, institutions and processes. Although the course includes a Northern Ireland dimension, students also learn about the UK’s political system (including its local, national and European Union (EU) dimensions) and carry out a comparative study with another political system (USA or Republic of Ireland).

GCE Government and Politics is a particularly useful qualification for students who want to pursue higher and/or further education in politics, international relations, education, industrial relations, history or law. It also helps prepare young people for a range of interesting and diverse careers including teaching, politics, finance, research, media, local government, civil service and business.
