GCE Government & Politics

Take a seat on the front bench

3 good reasons to choose our qualification:

  1. Develop critical thinking and career skills including problem-solving and decision-making
  2. New content includes the British judiciary and pressure groups in the UK
  3. New improved symmetry and flow between AS and A2 topics

First teaching of this specification is from September 2016.

In the AS units, students explore political systems that have an impact on their lives: the Northern Ireland system and the United Kingdom system.

Students who continue to A2 can use their AS skills and knowledge to consider a range of other systems, both democratic and non-democratic, and to consider what is the best possible way to govern any society.

Government and Politics encourages young people to become actively involved as citizens. The skills that it promotes are directly relevant to many vocational areas and are valued by employers. The subject also prepares young people for a wide variety of further and higher education courses.
