Revised GCE Government & Politics Specification
This specification is for first teaching from September 2008.Through studying the revised GCE Government & Politics specification, students will develop knowledge and understanding of the political systems in which they live. In particular, this specification will encourage students to:
- develop a critical awareness of the nature of politics and the relationship between political ideas, institutions and processes;
- acquire knowledge and understanding of the structures of authority and power within the political system of the United Kingdom , and how these may differ from those of other political systems;
- acquire knowledge and informed understanding of the rights and responsibilities of the individual; and
- develop an interest in and take part in contemporary politics.
This specification will allow students to develop essential academic skills to take forward into further education. It will also help students prepare for careers in diverse areas such as law, business, finance, government services and in politics.
