At Entry Level, students must complete three study modules:
- Family Life;
- Diet and Health; and
- Choice and Management of Resources.
The three study modules are described in detail in the table below:

- Planning healthy diets to meet the dietary needs of family members throughout the life cycle

- The effect of food storage, preparation and cooking on nutrients
- Convenience foods
- The safety of food

- Shopping
- Factors which influence consumers’ choice of the following:
– food; and
– equipment relating to the storage, preparation and cooking of food
- Information about food and equipment available to consumers
- Legislation as a source of information and consumer protection
