Revised GCSE in Health and Social Care (Double Award)
This revised specification is for first teaching from September 2009, and we will make the first awards in 2011.
This specification gives students knowledge and understanding of:
- a range of services and organisations within the health, social care, early years and children’s services sector;
- what it’s like to work in the health, social care, early years and children’s services sector;
- quality care in the health, social care, early years and children’s services sector;
- personal development;
- what influences an individual’s health and well-being;
- issues that affect the nature and quality of human life, including diversity and cultural issues; and
- the importance of motivation and support when improving health.
This course encourages students to develop a critical and analytical approach to problem-solving and to become effective and independent learners. It also enables students to develop research skills and apply the knowledge and understanding they gain.
Our specification in GCSE Health and Social Care (Double Award) prepares students for studying GCE Health and Social Care.
