Students must complete two examinations. The exams last 1 hour 30 minutes and are each worth 20 percent of the final award.
Paper 1 tests students on the content of Unit SA2: Personal Development. Students must respond to short answer, structured and extended writing questions. All questions are compulsory. This exam is available in January and summer.
Paper 2 tests students on the content of Unit DA2: Promoting Quality Care. As it is a synoptic exam, it also assesses how well students can apply the knowledge they’ve gained from the content of Units SA1, SA2 and DA1.
Students must demonstrate:
- understanding of the connections between the different elements of the subject; and
- their holistic understanding of the subject.
This exam is available in summer only and is based on pre-released materials. We issue these materials eight weeks before the exam.
Short-answer questions, structured questions and questions that require extended writing are included in both examinations. All questions are compulsory.
For more information, see the specification.
