Students must complete two controlled tests and one exam at Entry Level.
Controlled Tests
Students must attempt two tests out of the following controlled tests:
- Presenting Information
- Handling Information
- Spreadsheet Modelling
- Use of the Internet.
We set all the controlled tests and they are each worth 20 percent of the final mark. There is no time limit but the tests must be taken under supervised conditions (this can be within normal class time).
Final Exam
The final exam is held in March each year. It consists of one externally assessed question paper lasting for one hour. This paper is set and marked by us. The exam paper tests students on all of the use of ICT in ordinary life.
The table below summarises how students are assessed at Entry Level:
| Component | Weighting | Mode of Assessment |
| Presenting Information | 20% | Internal tests or coursework. Students must complete an assessment unit for each component. Two of the components must be assessed through coursework and two through internal exams. |
| Handling Information | 20% | |
| Spreadsheet Modelling | 20% | |
| Use of the Internet | 20% | |
| Understanding the use of ICT in everyday life | 20% | Exam lasting 1 hour |
| Total | 100% |
