Students must complete one examination for GCSE Journalism in the Media and Communications Industry (JMC). The exam lasts 1 hour 30 minutes and is worth 40 percent of the final award.

We set and mark the exam. It tests students on their knowledge and understanding of Unit 1: The Journalism Industry and Skills for Journalism.

The exam paper is divided into three parts:

Section A tests Assessment Objective 1.
Section B tests Assessment Objectives 2 and 4.
Section C tests Assessment Objectives 2 and 4.

The first exam will take place in Summer 2010. There will also be exams in January 2011 and Summer 2011.

For more information, see the specification.
