Examinations
At each tier, students must sit two externally-set examination papers. The two examination papers are each worth 40% of the total award.
The papers assess students on the four assessment objectives:
- Using and Applying Mathematics
- Number and Algebra
- Shape, Space and Measures
- Handling Data
Students sit the following papers at each tier:

| Foundation | Papers 1 & 2 |
| Intermediate | Papers 3 & 4 |
| Higher | Papers 5 & 6 |
Please note that calculators are not permitted in Papers 1, 3, and 5. However, calculators must be used in Papers 2, 4, and 6.
