Composition and Performance
In GCE Music, 60 percent of the marks are awarded for composition and performance.
Students must complete one composition and performance assessment unit from a choice of two at AS, and one composition and performance assessment unit from a choice of two at A2 level.
The units are designed so that students can choose the assessment unit that best suits their skills and strengths.
Those students who are more skilled at composition may want to select units AS 1 and A2 1, as these units award more marks to composition than performance.
On the other hand, those students whose strengths lie in performance may want to select units AS 2 and A2 2, as these units award more marks to performance than composition.
Students must sit all of the composition and performance assessment units in the summer series of exams.
