Occupational Studies

The world of work is constantly changing. Today it is uncommon for a person to have only one occupation throughout their working life, so it’s vital that we are able to transfer and adapt our knowledge and skills throughout our careers.

To foster these abilities, Occupational Studies allows learners to learn for work, through work and about work, and it provides the potential for this learning to take place in out-of-school contexts. This hands-on approach is ideal for those who prefer to develop their skills in a more practical, occupational environment.

Occupational Studies is both coherent and flexible and provides a good foundation from which to advance to competence-based post-16 courses.

Instructions for Conducting Coursework

In order to support centres in making accurate and consistent assessment decisions CCEA has produced the following support documentation for centres. The instructions are for use in all ACETS* qualifications. They cover the setting, supervision, authentication, marking, internal moderation and standardisation of coursework in centres. Centres are strongly advised to download both documents.

Occupational Studies Visit Questionnaire

This questionnaire has been specifically designed for centres who have requested an Occupational Studies Visit from CCEA's Education Manager. The overall purpose of this questionnaire is to gauge whether the centre visit met the expectations of those who requested it. In addition to this, the questionnaire aims to identify if any improvements need to be made to the visits and whether any further support is required from CCEA.
