At Entry Level, students must complete one controlled classroom test and one external examination.
The controlled classroom test is set and marked by teachers at each centre. It takes place after students have finished studying the first option and students must answer questions on what they have learned. The test is worth 10 percent of the total marks available for the course.
The final exam is set and marked by us. It is held in March of the final year of the course, lasts 30 minutes and accounts for 10 percent of the final grade. Students are tested on their knowledge and understanding of the second option studied.
For both the classroom test and final exam, students must answer a variety of questions. Typically students will be asked to:
- match words/phrases/items;
- label objects/images/diagrams;
- answer true/false questions;
- answer multiple choice questions;
- fill in the missing words;
- respond to picture stimulus;
- complete comprehension questions; and/or
- carry out simple evaluation tasks.
More information on the classroom test and final examination can be found in the full specification.
