Exam Tips
We recommend that teachers and students familiarise themselves with the examination paper and its format by studying past examination papers. Additional suggestions appear below:
Materials
Bring all necessary materials with you to the examination hall (for example, drawing pencils, coloured pencils or markers, a ruler, a rubber, a sharpener and a pen).
Instructions
- Read the instructions. For example:
Answer Task 1 (Common Core)
Answer only one of the Task 2 (Making) focus area questions. |
Question Types
Several types of questions are asked regularly in the examination. We advise teachers to highlight to students the different types of questions they may encounter in the examination.
Tips on Sketching
- Students can improve their standard of sketching by showing detail. Basic line drawings cause students to lose marks.
- Use colour when sketching on the examination paper.
- When answering the Evaluation section at the end of the paper, try to produce sketches that demonstrate creative improvements and show evidence of personal experience.
