The full Advanced GCE course in Technology and Design consists of two parts: the AS level (50%) and the A2 level (50%). However, students may also choose to complete only the first part, the AS, to obtain the AS qualification.

The AS builds, but does not necessarily depend, upon the knowledge, understanding and skills developed within our GCSE Technology and Design qualification. However, students must have a foundation knowledge and understanding if they are to successfully complete this in one year.

The A2 section of the Advanced GCE builds upon the knowledge, understanding and skills developed within the AS.

To obtain the full GCE qualification, students must complete six study units. For the AS qualification, students must complete only study units 1-3.

The modules are listed below:

Unit Unit Title
Unit 1 Product Design and Practice: Materials, Components and their Uses
Unit 2 Product Development
Unit 3 Systems and Control: Industrial and Commercial Practices
Unit 4 In-depth Study: Designing
Unit 5 Making
Unit 6 Systems and Control in Product Design
