About Us

The aim of Education for Employability is to ensure that all young people develop the personal qualities, skills, knowledge, understanding and attitudes which will give them a strong foundation for lifelong learning and work.

This is an urgent priority not only for young people in schools but also for the future economic well being of Northern Ireland. It will be important that school provision is developing those skills and qualities which will prepare young people for the opportunities in an innovative, knowledge-based economy which will be dominated by small local organisations. The school curriculum must be responsive to the new challenges and opportunities.

CCEA has piloted aspects of Education for Employability in a number of schools. Resources have been and will continue to be developed to support teachers and pupils.

It is stressed that Education for Employability is a whole school agenda and, as such, should be reflected not only in the ethos of the school but in its policies, development plans and pedagogy.
