CCEA Statement on CAO Admissions Process
Thursday 11 June 2009
The Central Applications Office (CAO) in the south has issued letters to schools and A-Level candidates here which appear to indicate that, this year, a different admissions process will be applied to applicants presenting GCE results from that applied to applicants presenting Leaving Certificate results.
CCEA has been in touch with the Central Applications Office (CAO) on several occasions. They have provided us with verbal reassurance that GCE candidates applying to study university courses in the south of Ireland will not be disadvantaged as a result of the admissions process used.
We have been in contact with the Department of Education here who are working with the Department of Education and Science in the south in seeking further clarity from the CAO and the Higher Education Institutions.
We will continue to work closely with the Department of Education to ensure that everything possible is being done to avoid any potential disadvantage to GCE students with applications to study at Higher Education Institutions in the south.
