Swine Influenza: Important Information

Wednesday 28 October 2009

As reported instances of the H1N1 virus (Swine Flu) increase in Northern Ireland, CCEA are in regular contact with the Department of Education, Department of Employment and Learning and the Public Health Agency to ensure a co-ordinated approach in anticipating and dealing with the challenges that may arise. We are also working closely with the regulators, awarding bodies and government departments in England, Scotland and Wales. A contingency plan has been agreed centrally and can be viewed here.

At present all operations in relation to CCEA examinations are continuing unaffected. Risk management is well embedded into CCEA’s quality management systems and strategies are already in place to deal with situations that may arise. Principals have access to CCEA’s 24 Hour Examinations Helpline for the upcoming examination series.

We will continue to monitor the situation and provide advice and assistance to schools as required.
