NORTHERN IRELAND EXAMINERS SET THE STANDARD
Northern Ireland’s exams body, the Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) today praised the efforts of their examiners who have spent the summer marking and grading more than half a million exam scripts.
Speaking as CCEA prepares to issue A level results to schools and colleges across Northern Ireland , Director of Education Services Neil Anderson said:
“CCEA knows that a supply of well-trained and motivated examiners is vital to the health of the whole examining system. The great majority of our examiners are practising teachers and it is their expertise and dedication we rely upon to ensure Northern Ireland students receive the grades they deserve.
“This summer we have yet again processed more exam scripts in more subjects than ever before. I’d like to say a big thank you to the 2717 individuals who have helped us in setting papers, marking scripts, awarding grades and moderating coursework.
I’d also like to take this opportunity to wish good luck to the tens of thousands of students who will be receiving results tomorrow and over the coming weeks. May your hard work be rewarded.”
Students in Northern Ireland will receive their GCE results on Thursday 18 August. CCEA GCSE results will follow on Tuesday 23 August, with results from exam boards in England arriving on Thursday 25 August.
CCEA Examinations Helpline
CCEA has launched an examinations helpline and for the first time a comprehensive Frequently Asked Questions section is available online at www.ccea.org.uk to support anxious students, parents and teachers.
