WEATHER DISRUPTION: CCEA ISSUES INFORMATION TO SCHOOLS

The local awarding body, CCEA, this morning issued guidance and reassurance to local schools and colleges hit by the severe weather conditions. A number of GCE examinations are due to be sat today in schools and colleges across Northern Ireland . CCEA has issued the following information:

  • CCEA advises schools and colleges with students sitting today’s AS and A2 level examinations to do the following:
  • In consultation with CCEA, schools and colleges should allow some flexibility in the timing of the examinations on the day timetabled, to allow as many students to be present as possible.
  • Ensure that students who have had travelling difficulties are given an opportunity to settle before starting the examination.
  • In the event that students cannot take an examination on the correct day, please notify CCEA immediately. CCEA will continue to monitor the situation closely during the next few days and will decide upon appropriate measures to ensure that no student is disadvantaged.

Throughout the morning, CCEA has been contacting all schools and colleges scheduled to sit today’s examinations in order to assess their circumstances and offer advice and guidance. CCEA will continue to do everything in its power to help in this situation.

If schools need to contact CCEA on this matter, telephone the Entries Team at CCEA on (028) 9026 1232 / 9026 1293 / 9026 1212 or 9026 1461.
