A display by some of Northern Ireland’s brightest young artists and designers will be unveiled today at the ‘true colours’ exhibition in Omagh College.
Organised by the Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) and sponsored by First Trust Bank, ‘true colours’ showcases the best and most intriguing work from CCEA’s summer 2005 GCSE and GCE Art and Design examinations.
David Mulholland , Director of Corporate Services at CCEA, commented:
The ‘true colours’ exhibition, is a unique and exciting display showcasing the outstanding artwork being produced in Northern Ireland’s schools and colleges. The remarkable standard of work is testament to the outstanding creative talent of our young people. I would like to say congratulations to all the students whose work is exhibited and to their teachers who have encouraged them to make such good use of their artistic ability, I’m sure they are very proud to see their work displayed in such a public setting.
This exhibition has become one of the highlights of the education calendar, attracting over 7000 visitors each year. The visiting students gain valuable insights and inspirations from the creativity and imagination of other young people and recognise what it takes to achieve top grades in GCSE and GCE Art and Design. I hope that visiting ‘true colours’ will inspire and motivate them to return next year to view their own work hanging on these walls.”
Pat O’Kane, Regional Director of the First Trust Bank who sponsor ’true colours’, also commented:
"First Trust Bank is delighted to once again be associated with the 'true colours' art exhibition. It provides budding young artists with a unique opportunity to showcase their talent, and the quality of the work is evidence of the wealth of artistic flair in our local schools."
Speaking at the launch Victor Refausse, Director Omagh College commented;
“ Omagh College is delighted to be involved in an event that celebrates and publicises the excellent standard of artwork being produced by Northern Ireland students. It is through the hard work of the students, whose work is featured here today, and the insightful guidance and commitment of their teachers that the high standard of visual arts in Northern Ireland will continue to flourish.”
The exhibition will also be displayed in CCEA, Clarendon Dock, Belfast from Monday 30 th January. The exhibitions are free of charge and open to the public. Schools and FE Colleges should book in advance by contacting CCEA Events Management on (028) 9026 1401.
