CCEA calls on support for the Marking and Moderation of exams

This week CCEA, Northern Ireland ’s exams body is embarking on its biggest ever recruitment drive to engage teachers and other suitably qualified individuals to join its team of professional markers and examiners.

Each year an increasing number of Northern Ireland teachers and students are choosing CCEA examinations, likewise CCEA are offering an increasingly wider portfolio of qualifications. The marking and moderation of these examinations is a mammoth task, carrying substantial responsibility and requiring considerable skill.

CCEA’s Martin Quinn explains;

“Few people appreciate the sheer scale of the operation that takes place each summer to ensure Northern Ireland ’s students receive their grades in August. In 2005, CCEA examiners and markers processed over three quarters of a million scripts and finalised close to a quarter of a million grades. A supply of well-trained and motivated examiners is vital to our business and the health of the whole examining system in general.

Examiners joining CCEA will become part of a team of highly professional subject specialists with a unique insight into the examining process. These insights can, in turn, be used to real benefit in the classroom in helping students study and prepare for exams. Full training and support is provided and there is of course the opportunity to earn extra money.

If you feel you have the knowledge and experience required to fill this important role, please contact CCEA appointments on (028) 9026 1243 or 9026 1294, or visit www.rewardinglearning.com/examiners”.
