CCEA's New Enterprise Resource is no Fairytale

CCEA's 'Anything's Possible Enterprise Storysack' is a primary school resource designed to engage children's interest in enterprise through the use of a fictional story using lovable characters who demonstrate enterprising qualities throughout their journey.

This resource supports the introduction of Education for Employability in primary schools. It also contributes to Invest NI's Accelerating Entrepreneurship Strategy (AES) which aims to address the low level of entrepreneurial activity in Northern Ireland.

CCEA Chief Executive Gavin Boyd commented from Invest Northern Ireland's Headquarters:

"If children's enterprising attitudes are developed early, it will help mould their openness to opportunities and new ideas when they are older. This is what Enterprise is about in the Primary school."

Speaking at the launch Graham Davis, Director of Entrepreneurship at Invest NI, added:

"The "Anything's Possible Enterprise Storysack" resource will help inspire more children to become entrepreneurial as they mature. Changing attitudes towards enterprise and encouraging more young people to see starting a business as a viable career option is one of our key objectives here at Invest NI."

Marie Poacher Teacher, St Mary's Primary School, Cabragh stated:

"Children love stories, so what better way to teach them than through the art of storytelling.

This resource is engaging and fun for teachers and parents to use with children. Introducing enterprise early will cultivate a 'can do' attitude, enhancing their personal development, self confidence and self esteem."

The Storysacks resource will be distributed by CCEA to all primary schools in Northern Ireland at the end of October.
