Examinations activity to go ahead as scheduled, says CCEA
Northern Ireland ’s examinations body, the Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) has issued guidance to local schools and colleges regarding examination and moderation activity taking place on Tuesday 28 March. This guidance, issued last Friday, is in response to the planned industrial action by workers in the public service due to take place on that day.
In a fax message to School and College Principals CCEA confirmed that Tuesday’s examination and moderation activity will go ahead as scheduled.
CCEA Director of Operations Neil Anderson said:
“On Tuesday students across Northern Ireland will be involved in a number of examination activities, ranging from written tests to practical examinations. They will have been working towards this specific date for some time and we believe it is essential that they are not disrupted or distracted in any way.
As soon as Tuesday’s industrial action was confirmed we reviewed a range of options. We’ve concluded that all examination and moderation activity should go ahead as planned. This has been communicated to all schools and colleges.
The feedback that we’ve received from centres to date clearly indicates that they too want to ensure that disruption to their students is minimised.
If any school or college has concerns about being able to run planned examinations and assessment activity, they should get in touch with CCEA as soon as possible.”
The following CCEA examination and moderation activity will take place on Tuesday 28 March 2006 :
