864,321 hours of exams come to an end for Northern Ireland Students
Teachers, students and parents across Northern Ireland can breathe a sigh of relief today as the summer 2007 GCE and GCSE examinations series comes to an end.
Anne Marie Duffy, Examinations Manager at local exams body CCEA, highlighted the magnitude of the operation surrounding this year’s examinations .
“CCEA received 190,089 examination entries in total this year across 368 different examination papers. That’s a staggering 864,321 hours of exam time. Students are to be commended for their resilience and commitment; I hope their hard work will be rewarded.
We now enter the busy period of marking and processing the results. Almost 3,000 CCEA examiners and moderators, amongst other staff, are working to ensure that all scripts are accurately marked, graded and results issued by mid August.
I would like to congratulate the teachers for their work in preparing students for all examinations taken and wish every student success.”
All GCE results will be issued on Thursday 16 August. CCEA GCSE results will be issued on Tuesday 21 August with those from other awarding bodies arriving on Thursday 23 August.
