Top students celebrate their success at CCEA

Students from schools across Northern Ireland and beyond were rewarded for their outstanding performance in CCEA’s 2009 GCSE examination series at CCEA’s ‘Celebrating Excellence’ event.

The annual event for Top Candidates at GCSE took place on Friday 23 April at the CCEA Headquarters in Clarendon Dock.

Almost 30 of Northern Ireland’s brightest 16 and 17 year olds attended the memorable event with their family, teachers and principal.

Congratulating all the students personally was Anne Marie Duffy, Director of Qualifications at CCEA. She commented:

Today we have seen the best of Northern Ireland’s young students come together with friends, family and teachers to celebrate their excellence. Recognising the hard work and fantastic achievement of these young people is a pleasure.

It is encouraging to know that the majority of students here today are studying for their AS levels. The motivation and determination they have so far demonstrated in their academic studies will stand them in good stead as they move on to further study, gain work experience and continue to play a valuable role in the wider community. I have every confidence that they will contribute positively to a healthy economy and vibrant society for Northern Ireland.

As well as being a special event for students, it is also important to say thank you to families, friends and teachers who have supported and encouraged these incredible young people.
