8. Awarding A* at A Level Grading Criteria
The A* has been introduced to recognise and reward outstanding performance at A level.
8.1 How is A* awarded?
An A* grade will be awarded to candidates who have met both of the following criteria:
- gain an A grade overall at A level; and
- gain 90% or more of the maximum uniform marks on combined totals of the A2 units.
The A* will be awarded for A level qualifications only. It will not be awarded at AS level or for individual units.
