Why revise specifications?

Specification content and assessment must reflect the needs of learners and the society, economy and environment in which they live and work. Our aim is to provide teachers, lecturers and tutors with top-class qualifications that are refreshingly relevant, stimulating and rewarding for their learners.

 

When will the revised specifications be introduced?

We have recently revised a range of GCE and GCSE specifications. We will soon be consulting with you on our early ideas and proposals at teacher workshop events across Northern Ireland. Look out for details of these events arriving in your centre soon.

 

Our accredited science specifications will be available in early autumn 2010 for first teaching from September 2011.

 

Who will develop the revised specifications?

The GCE and GCSE revision process involves several stages of consultation with teachers/ lecturers, employers and higher education. These groups help subject specialists write the specifications and support resources.
