Spec changes... CCEA are changing their subject specifications
Functionality in Revised GCSEs
Revised GCSE Specifications and Specimen Assessment Materials:
English Language, English Literature, Mathematics, ICT and Gaeilge
Our GCSE English Language, English Literature, Mathematics, ICT and Gaeilge specifications are currently being revised. We will be using this opportunity to ensure that the content and assessment of these specifications:
- is up-to-date and relevant;
- meets the needs of the changing society, economy and environment in which we live; and
- builds on the cross curricular skills from Key Stage 3.
We are integrating the skills relevant to real-life contexts within our revised specifications.
So far, we have consulted with many teachers currently teaching our and other awarding bodies’ specifications, to inform our thinking and aid the development process.

What Next?
The Specification Revision Teams will amend the specifications to reflect consultation feedback and submit them to the regulators for approval. We expect them to be accredited by 30 November 2009.
We will then publish the specifications on our website by the end February 2010. This will be followed by a support programme for teachers in advance of first teaching in September 2010.
