Spec changes... CCEA are changing their subject specifications
The Big Changes
Unitisation
Our GCSE English Literature, English Language, ICT and Mathematics
specifications are unitised. Gaeilge is a linear specification.
When a specification is unitised:
- you can enter your candidates for elements of the assessment before
the terminal assessment; - candidates must complete at least 40% of the overall assessment
requirements as terminal assessment; - there is one resit opportunity for each assessment unit; and
- if resitting, candidates must resit at least 40% of the assessment as terminal assessment.
Benefits For You
- increasing flexibility and choice – choose the assessment approach that is best suited to your centre, for example:
- allowing you to plan delivery of the course to match the availability of units; and
- giving you more immediate feedback on students’ performance, allowing you to better target teaching and learning.
- staged assessment with certification in the final series; or
- sitting all the units at the end of the course;
Benefits for Your Learners
- helping them manage their workload better;
- offering resit opportunities to improve performance;
- providing the opportunity to complete part of the assessment in advance, freeing up time in the final year of study; and
- allowing them to complete assessment throughout the course and to get feedback on their progress, which can aid motivation.
