Examinations

For both AS 1 and AS 2, students complete a written examination, consisting of compulsory short answer questions and some that require extended writing. Both examinations are
1 hour 45 minutes long.

For AS 3, students take two 1 hour papers. The first is an externally assessed test of practical skills, consisting of four experimental tests worth 40 marks in total. In the second paper, worth 50 marks, students analyse the results of experiments.

In the second paper, students analyse the results of experiments. This paper is worth 50 marks.

For A2 1, students complete a 2 hour written examination, which consists of compulsory questions that require short answers. The questions have elements of synoptic assessment, drawing together different strands of the specification.
