CCEA Curriculum Monitoring Programme 2018-19

Our GCE Journalism in the Media and Communications Industry specification is for first teaching from September 2013. We will make the first AS Level awards in 2014 and the first A Level awards in 2015. It is an applied qualification designed to develop the knowledge, understanding and skills required to work in journalism. Students can discover what it is like to work as a reporter, researcher, photographer, photojournalist, subeditor, anchor, camera operator or sound technician.

This specification aims to help students to:

  • apply their skills to relevant work-related scenarios in print and feature portfolio work;
  • work independently and in group settings;
  • research, develop and present their findings in formats including print, online and broadcast platforms;
  • develop advanced study skills to prepare for third level education; and
  • demonstrate their understanding and application of key concepts through assessments.
