GCSE Leisure, Travel and Tourism

For first teaching from September 2017
A guide to changes in GCSE Grading

Our GCSE Leisure, Travel and Tourism specification encourages students to become independent learners and critical and reflective thinkers with enquiring minds. They also develop understanding of sustainable development and environmental issues connected to travel and tourism.

Students learn about diversity and different cultures. They examine different types of tourism and the factors that influence the choice of leisure, travel and tourism activity. Safety and security measures for travellers are increasingly relevant. Students also examine the precautions and security measures implemented to keep travellers safe.

One of the units examines working in the leisure, travel and tourism industry and the different roles available. Students also look at how technology has affected the industry, from online booking and check-in systems to using social media and smartphone apps.
