Students work is assessed for each unit they complete.

For AS 1: Developing Skills and Repertoire, students research and develop their skills and produce an evaluation of their own progress and that of one other student. Students produce or perform their repertoire and write an evaluation. Students’ work is internally assessed and we moderate it.

For AS 2: Planning and Realising a Performing Arts Event, students produce a performing arts event in response to externally set pre-release stimulus material. Students produce a supporting document in three sections under controlled conditions. Students who have chosen performance give a live performance. Those who have chosen production give a presentation about their role and undertake their chosen discipline during the live performance. We assess the performance/production and the written work.

In A2 1: Planning for Employment, students develop materials that will help them to find employment in the performing arts industry by investigating training and job opportunities. Performance students prepare for and participate in an audition and interview. Production students prepare for and give a presentation of their work. They also participate in an interview. Students’ work is internally assessed and we moderate it.

In A2 2: Performing to a Commission Brief, students work as members of a production company to realise a commission brief that we set. They take on an administrative role and also perform for an audience. Performance students participate in a live performance. Production students undertake their chosen discipline during the live performance and then give a presentation about it. Both production and performance students each produce a record of work, including evidence of their administrative role. We assess the performing arts event and the written work.
