Love and Death

There is a wide range of poems here from different times and places. The English William Blake’s A Poison Tree was published in 1793, while American-born Alan Dugan’s Love Song: I and Thou was published in 2001. All of them, however, touch on varying aspects of love or death.

This part contains some information on the poems’ background, themes, and the poets’ use of language. We have also included some suggested tasks.
